Fan Expo 2008
I haven't been around much the past few days but I've had good reason. I spent the weekend with my buddy Ryan at Fan Expo 2008 in Toronto. I'd never been to a convention before, so this was my first one ever, but it was really a lot of fun. It was so nice to be amidst a group of people who weren't giving me "wow...really?" looks when I was gabbing on about anime shows, or Star Trek characters. It was so liberating. Ryan was great too because even though he's not really an anime person he was still willing to check stuff out with me.

I didn't get a chance to spend much time going to talks or what not since I was too busy shopping. I picked up some BEAUTIFUL art, a fan art picture someone did of Kakashi in his anbu gear and a precious Domo-kun doll. On Friday I took some time to line up in style and get an autograph from Richard Ian Cox, the voice of Inuyasha in the English dub.  Ended up posing for a pic with me, Domo-kun, Richard Cox and Vic M-? He does the voice of Eric? Elric on FMA and Kurz Webber on FMP! I knew he was someone in FMA cause of all the cosplayers dressed up who literally screamed for him when he arrived. So when I got home I looked him up and realized he did the voice of Kurz so that's cool by me. Richard Cox was very nice as well - quite a fun gentleman.

Sat I forced Ryan to get up early and went to the Bleach showing (shame they had to show so much Ishida ewww).  After a bit of shopping I decided to start being a paparazzi and taking pictures of cosplayers. It was actually really fun! There was this ADORABLE little girl (2 years old) who'd dressed up as Yoda. She had a light saber and everything. Not  a single person walked by her without smiling and/or taking a picture. Too cute. I also followed around this guy in awesome Kakashi cosplay until I snagged a picture of him muahahaha. Okay ,so he was probably 15 but whatever... I got my Mrs. Robinson fix.

The most adorable Yoda in the history of Yodas.
Yoda takes on DarthAnd with one mighty swing of her light saber defeats him!
A storm trooper. I told him to look as evil as possible. These three came as a trio. We've got Batman, Harvey Dent and the Joker. Woot!I don't watch Star Wars so you'll have to forgive me if I get this one wrong... An Ewok? His eyes glowed. It was pretty cool.
Meet the Kakashi I stalked for two days (not really...but yeah...)Meet Dr. Doom. I asked this guy to look extra evil.He went "Grrr" hahahaha
Inuyasha and Cpt. Jean Luc Picard - two of my favourite characters on one panel. I did debate stealing it, but only for a moment.
A decent Ulquiorra, an espada from the anime BleachI told this kid to look evil hahaha He's the 12th division captain from the anime Bleach (don't remember the character's name)I wasn't too keen on taking this guy's picture but I took one of all his friends so I felt obliged and besides, he was so into it I just had to hahaha. He's Grimmjow, an espada from the anime Bleach
A beautiful day at the Convention Centre in TorontoA nice shot of the Toronto SkylineAn adorable little puppy that was roaming about with his ball around the doors of the Skydome.

In the end of the day it was a very awesome fun time and I look forward to going to the next convention. I'm just sad I have no other anime/star trek/comic book nerdy friends to go with since Ryan heads back to Montreal tomorrow. *sigh*

And how was your weekend?

Not nearly as amusing as yours baby! LOL! This is so cool. Mine has been quiet. I can see why you will be back next year.

WOW!!! I so wanna meet that guy from Inuyasha, I love to hear him talk. I wouldn't mind listening to Sesshoumaru whispering sweet nothings in my ear either. That Kakashi guy was hot too(even though he was a bit on the young side Ms. Robinson), but you looked like you really had fun there. I can't wait to go to one myself and I do plan on dressing up as Yoruichi from Bleach. She is so bad-ass!!!lol

He's actually quite a nice guy - very personable! I think next I'll aim to meet Johnny Bosch, the Eng voice of Ichigo on Bleach. He's kind of a cutie. Apparently he was at the convention too but I didn't want to wait in line for another hour hahahaha

And yes, I did have an amazingly fun time! I was hesitant about going at first but now that I've gone to one I will definitely be going to another. I'll admit that the first day I snickered at the cosplayers a bit, but by the second day I was all over it taking pictures like the paparazzi.

I didn't see any Yoruichi's but quite a few Soi Fons. Both are incredibly bad ass though :) Due to my giant rack I think I would be relegated to the cosplay roles of Matsumoto or Orihime ;) But yes - definitely go to a con if you can. They are a lot of fun and worth the $
